Hamilton's New Rubbish and Recycling service

Black rubbish bags are on borrowed time. Hamilton is wheeling out an exciting new rubbish and recycling service from July 2020.

Launching in July 2020, the new kerbside service will introduce separate wheelie bins for collecting rubbish and recycling, and a food scraps bin. The existing recycling crates will be used for glass only.

From April 2020, Hamilton City Council will start delivering recycling, rubbish and food scraps bins to all properties in the collection area, in a process which will take a few weeks. Under the new system, food scraps will be collected weekly, and rubbish, recycling and glass fortnightly. The new kerbside service will reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and help to keep our streets cleaner.

More information about the new kerbside service rollout, bin delivery dates, and how to use the new collection system will be available early in the new year.
